Q. I have applied at least twice now a caulk strip around our bathtub and surround and it looks great for a week and then starts working itself loose from the suround and tub. I waited the amount of time I was supposed to before getting it wet. Any suggestions?

A. If you do it right, you can apply caulk without a specialized strip, and it will look great. I followed these instructions last year when I recaulked my tub surround and it looks great--makes me happy whenever I take a shower (yeah, maybe I need to get a life...). Caulking a tub: Step by Step
